Top insider drops double update on Brazilian midfield duo

Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing for Caughtoffside is always top quality, and today it has information on two players whose Chelsea connections are very much interlocked.

First up is Gabriel Moscardo. A flurry of rumours earlier in the week claimed that he was close to signing for us, or indeed had signed for us. But they faded away, and Romano has very much poured cold water on those ideas here.

What we’ve heard since is that part of Moscardo’s doubts about a potential Chelsea move was to do with fears about how he would ever get into the first team.

Romano’s other coverage informs you of exactly why that might be. Andrey Santos, who was the Moscardo of a year ago, and joined Chelsea in January, is not playing on his loan to Nottingham Forest and is going to be called back next month.

His career at Chelsea looks very uncertain, as there’s already a long queue for minutes.

No wonder Moscardo has backed off.

  1. Forest completely screwed us on the Santos loan. The latest quotes from Cooper indicate he never had any plan to play Santos, a clear indication that Forest surely misrepresented their intentions when they took him (because he could have trained alongside the first team, and a better first team at that, at Chelsea!).
