Mario Melchiot was on ESPN, tasked with explaining why Chelsea were so bad against Newcastle on Saturday, but instead he ended up more focused on what Newcastle will have done to put in such a great showing.
Melchiot pointed to the way they used the atmosphere at St James’ Park, and noted that he was “sure” that before kick off, Eddie Howe would have urged his players to get stuck in to a Chelsea team that was likely tired and distracted by their international exploits.
Whatever he says, it certainly worked.
