The pressure has been mounting up for Mauricio Pochettino in the last few games as Chelsea manager as his side slipped to 12th place in the Premier League after 16 games played.
As Chelsea manager you will always be under pressure when you are in such a low position in the league, but what are the owners thinking and is Pochettino in danger of being sacked anytime soon?
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea turn attentions to Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney alternative!
Chelsea insider Simon Phillips had some big updates on that on his Substack website today, and in a nutshell, there is no expectations that Chelsea will be pulling the plug on Pochettino yet, at least that is their intentions.
Phillips says: “I am told broadly the club owners are really keen to avoid having an overall hiring and firing reputation, even though that has been what they have done so far.
“Todd Boehly loves Mauricio Pochettino and he made a very good impression on them all when he interviewed for the job. He has created a good relationship also with Laurence Stewart.
“At the moment, the club are accepting that there are plenty of reasons that avoid the blame being firmly placed on the head coach, with injuries being a massive one.
“I understand they all collectively want to give Pochettino a chance to turn it around with him having more of an input in transfers for January, and then reassess in summer.
“They are also keen to avoid another situation of having to look for a new manager mid-season and potentially having to use an interim or temporary option, due to the lack of available options to come in.”
Phillips was also keen to state that this was the same as what was being reported on the same morning that Graham Potter got sacked by Chelsea last season, so things and opinions can certainly change quick. But right now at least, it seems that Pochettino is safe as Chelsea manager bar any more consistent run of defeats.
