Mauricio Pochettino’s positive sheen is fading away as bad results grind him down at Chelsea, and when he was asked about how his team’s campaign was comparing to his expectations from preseason, he didn’t sugar coat it.
“So far away [from expectations]” he admitted.
“Our target was to be on the top… the demand is to be on the top. But at the moment, being realistic, we need to increase in the way we compete if we want to win more games than we lose.”
That’s a pretty big ask really. He’s obviously furious that his players aren’t doing their part on the pitch.
It’s especially difficult the drop off to understand because of how well thing went in preseason. We felt like we had already seen progress in those games – now we only feel like we’ve gone backwards.
