Some bad news from Stamford Bridge, before we’ve even reached kick off.
Levi Colwill has been taken to the changing room after the warmup, and the club’s official Twitter account has just announced that Alfie Gilchrist is going to replace him in the lineup.
What we really don’t like is the way he’s described as being “rushed” off by the physios. That doesn’t sound great. We await further information from the coach about how bad the problem is. The last thing we need now is Colwill – who is supposed to be playing to allow Ben Chilwell to recover, with Marc Cucurella out and Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall sold – injured for any extended period.

So Gilchrist will get unexpected start at full back. Or will be play centrally with Benoit Badiashile going to the left? Whatever is the solution, it’s pretty calamitous given we started the season with a plethora of options in this position.
