Chelsea outcast linked with transfer exit – but major obstacle stands in the way

You’d be forgiven for forgetting that Malang Sarr is still a Chelsea player.

He doesn’t play in the first team, he doesn’t make the bench, he doesn’t even appear in photos or training videos. Whether it’s a punishment or just a desire to not disrupt the first team by introducing unhappy, wantaway players, he’s been effectively erased from history.

He’s still got a contract until 2025 though, and Chelsea would dearly love to get rid of him.

Todofichajes in Spain today connect him to Real Betis, but we’re very sceptical of any links at all at this point. Unless Chelsea are willing to let him walk away for free, and unless Sarr is willing to take a major wage cut in doing so, it looks like he will be rotting in the reserves (not that he ever plays for them) until his deal is over.

How incredible that a “no brainer” free transfer can turn into a catastrophe like this…
