We don’t envy Mauricio Pochettino’s position. He has to answer for an ownership group and for sporting directors whose he decisions he doesn’t necessarily agree with.
He knew what he was signing up for, of course, but it must still be a battle to balance being diplomatic with those above him with his own footballing interests – all while having to be essentially the only public facing part of the club.
On Sky Sports they said the coach was “sending a message” to those above him with his latest comments on his captain Conor Gallagher. It’s a dangerous game, but Pochettino has played it before at Tottenham.

Rumours about a departure do seem to have calmed down a little in the last couple of weeks, so there is hope. But ultimately this is a contract dispute – until we hear about positive progress on sorting out a long term deal for Gallagher, we can’t get too excited about his chances of staying at the club.

Connor is very good and at the moment contribute greatly to stability in the midfield. He must not be sold. We need Ivan Toney at whatever cost to help the team penetrate the top four. Please no more transfer mistakes. Thanks.
