(Video): Christopher Nkunku gets Chelsea back into game with cool finish

Chelsea are being embarrassed by Liverpool at Anfield, but the Blues have just grabbed a goal to keep it competitive.

It was Christopher Nkunku, brought on at half time, who got it.

It was a lovely goal, by the way. Carney Chukwuemeka made space in midfield, drifting forward and laying the ball off to Nkunku in the box. The attacker had few options, but managed to shuffle to make space and curl in a great finish.

If we’d had him all season…

You can see the goal in the clip embedded here:

  1. A real bright spot. Very promising things to come if we can just keep Nkunku healthy.

As good as Palmer is, he offers no significant threat in behind when played at the 9. Without that threat in the first half Liverpool were able to compress the space and recover ball after ball high up the pitch. It’s why we never looked a threat.

Hopefully with Jackson and Nkunku back for the match at Wembley we’ll put up a much tougher fight when we face Liverpool again.
