Ben Chilwell was back on the pitch yesterday, and he didn’t hesitate to grab the captain’s armband, nor the post-match interview with Chelsea TV.
He was asked what the manager had told the players before the game, and revealed that Mauricio Pochettino had taken an emotive angle to fire his players up:
“It’s a derby, that was pretty much it [in terms of instructions from the manager]. For the boys that don’t know, we let them know it was a massive game and we had to get a win and nothing less.”
It seemed to pay off. This can be one of the tamer derbies, but there was plenty of spice in yesterday’s game, and we got the win in the end.
