Ivan Toney is going to be one of the big names on the move this summer.
His contract at Brentford will have just one year to run by then, and both he and his manager have all but admitted he will be on his way out of the club before his value falls too far.
Rudy Galetti, writing for Caughtoffside, says that the Bees are considering “proposals from various suitors that start from around £55m.
That’s significantly less than teams were being quoted back in January.
Chelsea are likely to be one of them, but Galetti adds that both Arsenal and Manchester United are also in the mix, which could end up driving the price significantly higher. There are rarely any consistent strikers with a proven Premier League record available, and teams will pay a lot for Toney, especially if he has a strong finish to this campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team are without doubt in the mix – but they may have to fight off serious competition.
