Chelsea already looking at possible replacements for Pochettino with 39 year old on the list

Chelsea are reportedly already looking at potential replacements should they decide to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino.

The pressure has really ramped up on the Argentine following the Blues 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Pochettino singed a two year deal last summer with the option of a third but according to the Daily Mail the club have already started looking at possible replacements.

The article states that Chelsea have a long standing interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim but could face a difficult task to get his signature with the Portuguese likely to have several high profile offers with guarantees of European football.

Amorim is doing well this season with his Sporting side second in the league with a game in hand and in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Pochettino is now facing a crucial run of fixtures which could play a huge role in deciding his future, with European football a must for Chelsea’s expensively assembled squad.

The London club currently sit 11th in the Premier League and face Brentford, Newcastle and Arsenal in their next three league games as well as hosting Leeds in the FA Cup fifth round.

With Pochettino’s men struggling to find any consistent league form having lost 10 games, winning the FA Cup may provide the best route into European competition.

The article adds that Chelsea have no immediate plans to replace the 51 year old mid season but a drop off in results could force a rethink.
