Chelsea’s emerging superstar is “long term” target for Ligue 1 giants

PSG have are one of the teams interested in Levi Colwill, an exclusive from Jonathan Johnson for Caughtoffside is reporting.

He’s described as a “long term target” for the Parisians, who are looking to a future beyond Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe at the back.

PSG have moved on from their superstar era – Sergio Ramos, Lionel Messi and Neymar have already gone, and Kylian Mbappe leaves this summer. Their aim is to rebuild with younger players on lower wages. We can see why they’d like Colwill to align with that strategy.

“As recently reported by Ben Jacobs, PSG like Levi Colwill of Chelsea and may be prepared to play the long game to get him. The former Brighton defender is a player PSG have ear-marked as a potential option in the defensive positions, but he’s probably more of an alternative at the moment to the one they have made their priority, and that’s Leny Yoro,” Johnson wrote.

“Colwill is someone PSG will look to and explore in case they can’t sign Yoro, but I think the idea that they might wait a bit longer is accurate, because he could probably still do with more time to develop at Chelsea. He is a player that PSG are looking at with a view to the long term.”

As it stands, we’re not too worried. Colwill is playing well and will be delighted to have broken through at the club where he’s been all his life.

If we’re still struggling to get into Europe in a couple of years, we’ll start to fear he wants to go. But we’ve got some time to develop before then
