€25m bargain could be perfectly placed for Chelsea’s striker plans this summer if Jackson keeps scoring

Chelsea’s hunger for South American talent will never be satisfied it seems.

Every time a new name bubbles up, we’re linked to them. Today is no exception.

Brazilian source O Dia claim that the Blues have a new target in their sights – Flamengo forward Pedro.

The reports are that he could be available for just €25m – a proposal that could really tempt Chelsea who want to accumulate talent at below its market value. The Brazilian is 26, so older than the standard profile of player our sporting directors are going for,

But numbers don’t lie, and Pedro has racked up an impressive 107 goals and 23 assists in 221 games for his current club. That’s a fantastic return, and you can see why any team in Europe would be tempted to at least roll the dice.

Of course, with Nicolas Jackson doing well, it seems unlikely that we buy two strikers this summer. But if elite options go elsewhere and there’s no value in the remaining options, we can well see the sporting directors rolling the dice on Pedro or a similar player as an alternative.
