Thigh muscle tear revealed to be the big issue for Chelsea’s £58m flop

The Romeo Lavia injury mystery has puzzled us all year.

Chelsea insist on publishing an injury report every week with updates on all the players currently out, yet on the other hand they give so little detail about all these issues. Lavia started the season apparently needing to build up his fitness after not getting much of a preseason, then wasn’t actually seen until a half hour cameo in December.

What is going on? We never get anything more than vague waffle from Mauricio Pochettino. DH in his native Belgium have the scoop however – apparently his brief return was ended by a thigh muscle tear.

Even if that’s the case, it’s two months since his brief return to action. This must be a pretty serious issue in itself.

At this point, we’d rather just count without Lavia and make sure he’s totally ready for next season. What an utter waste of time and money his £58m signing (BBC Sport) has turned out to be.

  1. How is that your headache?… Give the young man time to get over his injury and be fit enough to play maybe at least 5 matches before you call him waste of money, as if you can play better than him.
