Mauricio Pochettino was asked to look back on a bad result against Liverpool this week in the build up to Sunday’s match against Wolves. He refused to use some strange refereeing decisions as an excuse:
“I need to defend my club [by pointing out bad decisions] and the interests of my club and my fans, but I think it was so evident and so clear [that we were inferior.]”
As disappointed as we were with the performance on Wednesday, we’re pleased that this was the reaction. It would have been easy to hide behind that early penalty shout, but Pochettino didn’t. That’s some credit – but we will need more than that on Sunday.
