Mauricio Pochettino got a big win in his favour last night, and used the chance to make a quite rousing speech about Chelsea and their progress.
He insisted that “this is not the Chelsea of 20 years ago” and that fans shouldn’t expect that.
He still thinks this team can get to the top, but it may take several seasons, and he warned people not to get impatient. He needs time and trust because there are “too many things to fix.”
He may well be right – but he has to get good enough results along the way to keep his job, that’s essential.
You can see the coach speaking in the clip embedded here:

Amen to what Poch said. Honestly, the biggest threat to this project right now are the fickle fans. We see the promise in this commanding performance AT Villa, but only 24 hrs earlier a large portion of the fan base were mutinous over only two bad results! Get a grip, folks! I like winning as much as the next guy, but I’d rather give this group time to mature and so we can watch them win for a decade (like City have done) rather than sabotage everything with another misguided sacking over a couple of poor losses in a season that was never going to end with a league title anyway.
