“All the owners were there” – Pochettino reveals Todd Boehly and co. were back in the dressing room

Mauricio Pochettino is taking his press conference after tonight’s win over Newcastle, and he’s revealed that owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali were in the dressing room – as well as others members of the ownership group, potentially.

They’re all in town for the Premier League owners’ meeting which was today, and that lined up nicely with a game at Stamford Bridge for them to watch:

“[Boehly] came with his son, Behdad, all the owners were there. It was a nice chat, only a few minutes because I need to come for the interview and the press conference. The relationship is good.”

Thankfully, this time they got to see a win, which has very much not been the case on some of their previous visits.

We’re largely uncomfortable with owners getting too involved up close and personal like this – it always feels like it’s a negative, even if Pochettino insists he doesn’t mind.

Still, it’s nicer to have the owners coming in for a win than for a loss ,which is traditionally when you see owners in dressing rooms. As long as they’re just congratulating him on a win, there’s no harm done.

Here’s to many more wins like this one, and here’s to far fewer owner

  1. As long as the owners aren’t contradicting Poch or interfering with his team talks, I think it’s a good thing for the owners to show up from time to time to express support and solidarity.
