Ben Chilwell has been added to Chelsea’s injury list ahead of Monday’s game against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea say the 27 year old is undergoing specialist medical assessment with it unclear how long he will be ruled out for.
It’s a blow for the England international who has already missed a large part of the season due to a hamstring injury and was just starting to find his feet in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Injuries have limited Chilwell to just 18 appearances in all competitions this season.
The left back joined Chelsea from Leicester City for £50m in 2020 and was part of the side that won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel in 2021.
Levi Colwill has also been added to the list whilst long term absentees Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia are still under going their rehabilitation programmes.
