Chelsea snubbed by rising star manager – despite flying executives to Spain for meetings

Chelsea are still trading on their big brand name – but as we’ve said many times, the longer we struggle, the less effective that tactic is.

Just look at the stories in the tabloids today for an example. The Sun are among the papers reporting that the Blues are checking our Michel Sanchez, the Girona coach currently making waves in La Liga.

In years gone by, the chance to manage Chelsea would have been an unmissable one.

Now, according to the reports we’ve got here, he turned us down.

We flew people to Spain to speak to the rising star, only to apparently find out he think he’s going to have better options on the table.

A big cluster of top sides are changing coach this summer, and even if Barcelona or Bayern Munich don’t approach Michel, a team who loses their coach to one of them may do.

Right now, basket case bargain bin Chelsea are not a tempting prospect for a young manager.
