Devastating injury update confirms Chelsea’s biggest bungle of the summer

Chelsea have just released an injury update on Romeo Lavia, and as you’d expect, it’s not a good one.

The update confirms that the midfielder will miss the rest of this season, completing the utter farce of his singing last summer.

After arriving as what felt like a slightly unnecessary signing given how much we had spent on Moises Caicedo, Lavia got injured before having set foot on the pitch for us.

It was never clear how bad the problem really was, and we didn’t see him until December. He returned for a cameo against Crystal Palace, picked up another injury, and hasn’t been seen since.

The latest update from the club confirms that injury has now had another setback, and adds that his season is now over:

“Recent medical assessments have confirmed that Lavia, who sustained a significant thigh injury against Crystal Palace back in December, will not feature again this season.”

A disaster in terms of squad planning, it is also a financial disaster. The spending on players like Lavia is going to force us to sell players who are actually able to stay fit this summer.
