€30m teenager could trigger Chelsea bidding war with Man United

Manchester United’s new direction under their new ownership seems like it’s going to be similar to Chelsea’s under theirs – buy South American talent, sell it for a profit, try to win some trophies along the way.

That means we’re likely going to be clashing with them over several targets – and according to Caughtoffside that could start with a Corinthians defender.

Rafael Venancio is a highly rated 17 year old who has been turning heads in Brazil, with this report already valuing him at around €30m.

That’s a lot of money for such a raw talent, but it just goes to show how highly rated he is. He will certainly come to Europe at some point, whether that’s to Chelsea or elsewhere.

Chelsea’s situation in defence is very much in flux. They have Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah who are likely to leave, Wesley Fofana who has barely been able to play for three years, plus Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile who have not really convinced yet.
