Eden Hazard names his best season with Chelsea – and it wasn’t under Antonio Conte

Eden Hazard is starring at this summer’s Soccer Aid at Stamford Bridge, meaning he’s got a few fun interviews floating around, and plenty more to come we’re sure.

He chatted to Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard, and one good nugget we noticed was Hazard naming his favourite season at Chelsea.

He really was there for a pretty crazy and up down 7 years. Both he personally and the team swung wildly from all-conquering to embarrassingly bad at times, but his choice was working with Jose Mourinho:

“My best season was the second season with [Jose] Mourinho when we won the Premier League and League Cup,” he said.

“The manager was the Special One and it’s so hard to explain the feelings after games with the fans all happy.”

It’s an interesting choice. That was indeed a great year, but we thought he might have gone for his title winning season with Antonio Conte, where he was part of a truly mesmerising attack with Diego Costa, Pedro and Willian.

Clearly the Maurizio Sarri year wasn’t the most fun, but it was also perhaps the season where he carried the team individually to the greatest extent.

  1. I’m not happy with the decision he (Hazard) of leaving Chelsea, and I wish he would have even retired at Chelsea, but it has happened so nothing we can do about that.
