Jose Mourinho waiting to see how Chelsea finish their season before making job commitments

The smells of Jose Mourinho is hanging in the air around the world of football.

Since being sacked by Roma at the urn of the year, the legendary former Chelsea coach has been out of work, and that has meant endless links with clubs all over.

The Blues are always on the list, and you’ve regularly been able to find pundits on TV arguing whether a return for Mourinho would work out – despite the fact we already have a manager, who is getting full backing from the board.

Fabrizio Romano had an interview with the Portuguese this week which he reported on in his column for Caughtoffside, and while he wasn’t revealing much until the interview is out, the issue of returning to Chelsea seems sure to come up:

“We discussed topics like managing the Portuguese national team and managing clubs in Saudi Arabia, but for now there’s nothing to report on his next move, even if he seemed clearly keen to get back to another job after recently leaving Roma.

“As soon as I’ll know about clubs interested, I’ll post the story as always. Now it’s March, still early, let’s wait and see but for sure he wants to return to management this year.”

Quite sensibly, it seems like Jose is waiting for a wave of managerial changes at the end of the season across Europe. Whether a spot opens up at Chelsea feels like it will depend on what happens over the next couple of months in terms of results.
