Chelsea’s owners bought a chunk of French club Strasbourg a year ago to try and build their football empire.
Instead, it’s just multiplying their problems.
They’re dealing with complaints from the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust on one side of the Channel, while in France there is a protest against their ownership planned for Sunday, according to the Evening Standard. Fans group Ultra Boys 90 (not a group who sound like they’re going to be easily fobbed off) are leading the way, having said that in a statement earlier this year that “Racing [Strasbourg] is now nothing more than a financial asset.”
The main problem there at the moment is that results are poor, drawing the Alsatians into a relegation battle.
Their transfer policy has made success this season difficult, with experienced players having been sold off, and Chelea’s “BlueCo” project is being blamed for these damaging decisions, much as they are at Stamford Bridge.
If results don’t go their way this weekend, it could be a tricky few days for our ownership.
