Chelsea now scouting new 23-goal striker ahead of potential summer approach

Chelsea are scouting striker names, and there is a new one that has come to the forefront of their thinking with a fresh exclusive report out today.

The club will obviously be scouting a number of new striker names as they ponder which one to go for this summer, and they may well soon make an approach for a new name, one who has got 23 goals in all competitions for his club already this season.

According to our reporter Simon Phillips writing on his Substack site today, Chelsea are keen on RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda.

The 24-year-old Belgium international is attracting real interest from Chelsea, with Phillips saying that club scouts have taken a close look at him on many occasions so far this season.

Openda has been a 20-goal-per-season striker since 2021, and this season he has notched up 23 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions in Germany.

The forward is already being touted for a move to the Premier League, but the sticking point of course is will he even be gettable this summer? He only joined his club in the summer and has a contract until 2028 and a market value of £55m.
