“Cole for sure” – Gusto picks team-mate over his Golden Boot rival

Malo Gusto has revealed he would rather have “special” Cole Palmer than his Golden Boot rival Erling Haaland at Chelsea.

Palmer was once again in sensational form against Everton on Monday night and scored a perfect hat-trick inside the first 30 minutes before adding his fourth from the penalty spot in the second half.

The 21-year-old is now level with Haaland at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with 20 goals having registered back to back hat-tricks at Stamford Bridge.

Gusto himself has been a revelation and has excelled in the absence of the injured Reece James in the right back position.

The 20-year-old was asked whether he would rather play with Palmer or Haaland and in quotes picked up The Standard said:

“Cole, for sure.

“We just have to help Palmer become the top scorer. He is special, and we are very happy to have this type of player on our team.”

Nicolas Jackson and Alfie Gilchrist also got amongst the goals as the Blues firmly put themselves back in contention for Europa League football next season.

Pochettino’s men now sit three points behind Newcastle and Manchester United with a game in hand over their rivals for a top six finish.

The win against Everton will no doubt be a confidence boost ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi final against Manchester City.

The Frenchman admits Chelsea have unfinished business at Wembley following the defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

He added: “Of course, it is revenge for us. The last final at Wembley was complicated for the team, but we have another chance to win.

“We just have to improve more, keep pushing, and try to win. We already know the FA Cup is the last cup we can win.

“We just have to take confidence from this week, keep pushing and stay focused for this type of game, and go for the win. We are very happy to win here at the Bridge 6-0 and have more confidence ahead of Saturday.”

Gusto has made 32 appearances in all competitions, providing eight assists this season.
