Honestly, in all our years we’ve sunk this low before, but this really deserves it:
STOP. THAT. COLE. PALMER.
The kid has just completed a 30 minute hattrick with a 50 yard effort clipped over the stranded Jordan Pickford.
Somehow he managed to raise the bar from his brilliant opener, somehow he managed to make a long range goal insouciant. We honestly don’t know where you go from here.
It’s not like Jordan Pickford to get caught messing about, but the two goals that Palmer had already put past him were clearly playing on his mind. He put the ball short into midfield when it was the worst possible option, and Palmer was right there to nick it and clip it over his future England teammate.
Too easy.
