(Video): Cole Palmer gives Pochettino credit for helping him score as many as Haaland

It’s a stat that’s hard to get your head around – Cole Palmer has as many league goals as Erling Haaland this season.

Even for those of us who have seen every game and every goal, it’s an astonishing fact considering Haaland is perhaps the most fearsome scoring machine we’ve seen in the league. When the comparison is put to Palmer, he modestly admits it just makes him “laugh.”

When asked to explain it, he simply says it’s all credit to his manager Mauricio Pochettino:

“Not only for playing me, but for giving me the license and the freedom to do what I want to do,” the former Man City man said.

It was a very deliberate, almost pointed attempt to give credit to the boss, who has been under fire at times this season. He’s too modest though – his own talent and hard work is the key factor here.
