(Video): “Thiago and the gaffer got us going” – Chelsea winger admits that harsh words motivated his team

Noni Madueke spoke to the Chelsea TV cameras after the game on Saturday and was asked about the motivation and spirit shown by the team as they came back from two goals down to almost win the match against Aston Villa.

He revealed that there had been some harsh words from the captain and coach at half time with the Blues once again losing.

“Thiago [Silva] and the gaffer said some things that got us going a bit. I think we were a bit lethargic out of possession and in possession… a bit static.”

We’re glad to hear there were some harsh words, especially after Tuesday night’s embarrassment. Whatever they said, it worked. Two frustrating goals were conceded, but the team kept their belief and spirit despite that in a way they simply hadn’t against Arsenal.

Madueke was certainly fired up, and that was clear at the end of the game as he led the protests against the referee for disallowing the late winner.

  1. Yeah, the guys showed a one spirit and a fighting spirit despite the disappointment from Referees and VAR on a disallowed late winning Goor.
To me Chelsea won the Aston Villa Game but I just don’t know what came over to a Referee.
