Chelsea duo must do this to avoid two game suspension

Chelsea are at risk of losing Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo to suspension for two games at a critical point in the season.

It’s something manager Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt be desperate to avoid given how stretched Chelsea’s squad is with injuries coupled with the pair being key players for the Blues this season.

Caicedo who arrived for a British record transfer from Brighton last summer has made 39 appearances in all competitions, with 27 of those coming in the Premier League.

The 22 year old is expected to start in the heart of Chelsea’s midfield against Everton at Stamford Bridge tonight but he will need to be careful.

Having picked up his ninth booking of the season in the 4-3 victory against Manchester United the Ecuadorian is walking a tightrope.

As per Chelsea’s official website the former Brighton star needs to avoid being booked until after the game against Arsenal at the Emirates next Tuesday otherwise he will be handed a two game ban for picking up ten yellow cards.

Jackson is also in the same situation having picked up nine bookings and given Christopher Nkunku’s injury issues and the departure of Armando Broja on loan to Fulham Chelsea could really do with not being without the 22 year old for a couple of games at this critical stage of the season.

The Blues lack of discipline has been a major issue this campaign and something Pochettino needs to get the team to improve on next season.

Reece James, Conor Gallagher and Malo Gusto have all been sent off this season and a centre forward picking up nine bookings really highlights the lack of discipline on display this season.

Missing one or both of Caicedo and Jackson would hand the Argentine an unwanted headache at this vital stage of the season with the Blues still trying to secure qualification for next season’s Europa League.
