Chelsea fans set to show appreciation for one of their own ahead of Tottenham game

Chelsea fans will show their appreciation for Conor Gallagher by unveiling a banner of him before tonight’s game against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher has been one of the Blue’s standout performers this season, but his future with his boyhood club is in doubt.

The 24-year-old is out of contract in 2025, and despite expressing his desire to stay at Chelsea talks over a new deal are yet to take place, which has led to the midfielder being linked with a move to rivals Spurs.

Gallagher to receive banner before Spurs game

The banner, which has been organised by fan group We Are The Shed, has been funded by supporters and will have the words “Chelsea since birth” above a picture of Gallagher wearing the captain’s armband.

The Blues have displayed similar banners in the past for the likes of Reece James, Thiago Silva and former manager Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea fans are set to show their appreciation for Gallagher ahead of Tottenham game.

The England international has captained Chelsea for large parts of the season due to injuries suffered by Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea have been willing to listen to offers for Gallagher in the last couple of transfer windows, and because he’s a home grown player he would count as pure profit on Chelsea’s books, with the club reportedly needing to raise money in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Despite the club actively wanting to sell Gallagher there’s no shortage of supporters who want him to stay, and the banner will be an opportunity for fans to show their appreciation and send a message to the club’s owners to think twice about selling him.

The Cobham graduate has arguably been Chelsea’s best midfielder this season, despite the club boasting Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in their ranks.

He has made 45 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring six goals and providing eight assists.
