Reece James, Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusto all made their return to action in the games last week, giving Chelsea fans a lot of positives to focus on on the injury front.
The game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday even saw Lesley Ugochukwu on the bench after a while out.
Things are really coming together on that front, although there remain some pretty big mysteries over the status of Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka. With just one week left of the season now and no recent updates on their status from the manager, we can fairly confidently say they’ve played their last in this campaign.
Two mysteries fans are kept in the dark on
Both Chukwuemeka and Chilwell have been prime victims of Chelsea’s rather mysterious lingering injury condition this season. Each missed a significant chunk of the campaign after picking up a pretty severe issue. But the real problem has come since their return.
Chilwell was out from the end of September until January, and had just worked his way back into the team with a series of 90 minute showings in March before suddenly disappearing from the picture again after rather prematurely being called up for international duty. We’ve constantly been expecting him back soon, but without hearing anything concrete his return date has just drifted gradually away to the point that we don’t feel it’s likely we see him in either of the two remaining games.
Chukwuemeka is much the same story – an injury in the Autumn which kept him out until the new year, then a scattering of minutes here and there before disappearing again in April.
In both cases, we’ve really been left in the dark on their status and what their current issue is. All we can really say now is that it’s unlikely we see them again this season.
There are too many new players who didn’t understand each others game and potichino had a very difficult task trying to get them to understand each others play well it seems muchuch better now the only problem I find is the running back instead of attacking this I find is a major problem otherwise aty age 75yrs I won’t stop supporting CHELSEA
Chelsea is unpredictable but so far so good the boys are getting to understand each other hopefully next season Chelsea MUST be unstoppable
I love Chelsea
