Chelsea vs Tottenham – Team News

Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in just under an hour, and the teams are in!

There are simply not too many decisions for Mauricio Pochettino to make this week, because there are so many injuries. The Argentine picks basically the only team he can. There is just one change to the team which drew with Aston Vila at the weekend.

That means Djordje Petrovic in nets, with Alfie Gilchrist set for a long night at right back. He comes into the team for the injured Axel Disasi, while Trevoh Chalobah shifts from the right to the centre to partner Benoit Badiashile, with Marc Cucurella at left back.

As at the weekend, the midfield duo of Conor Gallagher and Moises Caicedo will look to destroy opposition attacks, with Cole Palmer ahead of them to make things happen. Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke play out wide, supporting Nicolas Jackson leading the line.

What is quite incredible is the bench. Apart from goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, there’s not a single player with a Premier League start on there. In fact, Bettinelli and Cesare Casadei are the only players with a senior start in football anywhere. That shows just how deep the injury issues run at the moment.

Still, it almost guarantees some youth action later in the game. There are some real talents on there, including Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George, who may finally get a run out.

There’s almost nothing to lose tonight against a Spurs team desperate to make the top four. We just want to see some good performances and some debuts from the bench. Expectations are low, but a fierce atmosphere at Stamford Bridge and a very open Tottenham side could lead to a good game.
