Chelsea star nominated for April’s Premier League Player of the Month award

Cole Palmer is one of six players who have been nominated for April’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

Palmer has been a revelation for the Blues this season following his move from Manchester City last summer, and is the club’s top scorer with 23 goals in all competitions.

The 21-year-old has quickly established himself as Chelsea’s go too man, and it’s easy to forget this is his first season playing regularly in the league.

Palmer nominated for Player of the Month

The England international carried his brilliant form into April, scoring seven goals and providing an assist, despite only making four appearances.

Palmer scored back to back hat-tricks against Manchester United and Everton at Stamford Bridge, which catapulted him into contention for the Golden Boot.

Palmer has been a revelation this season, scoring 20 Premier League goals.

The former City man sits one goal behind his ex-team-mate Erling Haaland who leads the way with 21 goals, but a run of goalscoring form over the Blue’s last five games could see him win the award.

Alongside Palmer, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta have also been nominated.

It’s not just Player of the Month Palmer is up for, his first goal against Everton is up for Premier League Goal of the Month, and is one of eight nominations which includes goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kobbie Mainoo.

The versatile forward has made 43 appearances in all competitions scoring 20 Premier League goals, and providing 13 assists.

His form has all but guaranteed him a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros in Germany this summer.

Palmer will be hoping to add to his goalscoring tally against rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, with the Blues needing a win to keep their faint hopes of qualifying for Europe alive as they currently sit ninth.
