Former Chelsea player Jason Cundy believes Trevoh Chalobah has been the club’s most consistent defender this season.
The Blues rounded out the campaign with a 2-1 win against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, which secured a top six finish and a return to European competition.
If Manchester United win the FA Cup Chelsea will play in the Uefa Conference League, but if they lose the Blues will be in the Europa League.
Cundy believes Chalobah goes under the radar
Chalobah has been brilliant for his boyhood club this season, but didn’t make his first appearance until February having initially picked up an injury in pre season, before suffering a set back.
Since the 24-year-old returned to the side his performance levels have been superb, whether in the heart of the defence or playing at right back.
Chelsea haven’t lost a Premier League game in which Chalobah has started this season, and you can see the quality he has and his importance to the team.
Cundy believes the Cobham graduate goes under the radar and has been Chelsea’s most consistent defender this season.
“He goes under the radar”, Cundy said via Chelsea’s official app.
“He’s had injuries this season, he didn’t make his first start for months and months.
“He’s reliable, I think it’s a case to say he’s been our most consistent defender alongside [Malo] Gusto this season.”
Despite this there are strong suggestions Chalobah could have played his final game for the club with Chelsea believed to be looking at selling him due to his home grown status meaning he would represent “pure profit” on the books.
The message couldn’t be any clearer, he’s done his talking on the pitch and shouldn’t be going anywhere this summer.
You can guarantee if Chalobah was producing these performances for a European club Chelsea would be interested in signing him, and at some stage you have to feel the decision makers need to start seeing sense and not make more mistakes.
