Chelsea may not have a manger in place currently but that hasn’t stopped one current Premier League star from wanting to make the move to Stamford Bridge according to his agent.
Mauricio Pochettino’s departure was announced on Tuesday evening after just one season in charge, following an end of season review with the club’s hierarchy.
Having endured a difficult start to the campaign Pochettino oversaw a huge improvement in the second half of the season, which ended with the Blues winning five games in a row to secure a top six finish and a return to European football.
Duran still interested in Chelsea switch
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the club, it appears the Blues could still be an attractive proposition to players this summer, particularly for young talents.
One such player is Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran who was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in January, and his agent Jonathan Herrera has stated the 20-year-old would still be keen to make the move.
Herrera has claimed his client is still open to the move, saying it was never about Pochettino wanting him but more the club.
“He is a player who has a contract with Aston Villa, he ended up doing very well and the coach is counting on him, it is a club that, having got into the Champions League is a great opportunity, but we know he wants to play, we are going to see”, he told Caracol Radio.
“Now the market is opening up, the club is looking at some options and so are we.
“The interest has always been there, the fact that Pochettino continues or leaves the club [shouldn’t affect], the one who want him in the end is the club.
“He is a player that if they change coach or not, we will see what happens, but there has always been interest.
“Let’s see how we can handle it and make sure Aston Villa are ready.”
Duran has struggled to break into the Villa side due to the impressive form of Ollie Watkins, but he has shown flashes of his talent with five goals in 25 appearances.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea go in for the Colombian this summer with the club ideally needing a more experienced ready made option at the top end of the pitch.
