Euro 2024: One Chelsea player makes England squad so far but two miss out

As the current Premier League season ends, we can now start looking towards a summer of international football with the Euro 2024 competition set to start.

For Chelsea fans, there will be quite a bit of Chelsea involvement with a number of their players expected to be heading out to play for their countries this summer.

England of course will often have a few Chelsea players representing them, and that is the expectation again this summer.

Manager Gareth Southgate will be naming his full 30-man provisional squad later today but as always, the leaks have already been coming out via journalists.

As you can see below reported by Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail, Chelsea defender Levi Colwill WILL be included in today’s squad!

However, it seems both Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling will miss out entirely.

Chilwell and Sterling omissions justified?

I think so, yes, even as a Chelsea fan.

Sterling has been good in moments for Chelsea but not consistently good enough to earn a place in the England squad this summer, especially with the quality ahead of him and the form that some of those players have been in this season. Sterling is always going to be a dangerous player, but he lacks defensive work rate and consistency.

With Chilwell, the guy has barely played all season and is consistently out injured. I wouldn’t be risking taking him in my England squad either because he is just so injury prone and also, his form hasn’t even been that great this season.

It’s a shame because as a Chelsea and England fan you want to see some of the Blues players in the squad, but I have to be honest when analysing and I do feel that neither of these two really deserve to be going to the Euros this summer, as gutting as it will be for both players.
