Chelsea youngster hopes to stay at Ipswich next season following promotion

Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson has stated he hopes to stay at Ipswich Town next season following their promotion to the Premier League.

Hutchinson joined the Tractor Boys on a season long loan last summer, and established himself as a key member of the team that fired Ipswich back to the top flight for the first time in 20 years.

The 20-year-old scored the second goal in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield last weekend, which guaranteed a second place finish and automatic promotion.

Hutchinson wants Ipswich stay

Chelsea have had mixed success with their loans this season, but by far the most successful has been Hutchinson’s.

The winger won the Ipswich Player of the Month award on three separate occasions, and was also named Championship Player of the Month for February.

In total Hutchinson made 44 appearances in the Championship, scoring ten goals and providing six assists, in whats been a brilliant season for his development as a player.

Hutchinson has had a brilliant loan spell at Ipswich.

With his loan now over he will return to Chelsea where he has one year remaining on the contract he signed after joining on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2022.

It would come as a shock if the Blue’s weren’t to offer Hutchinson fresh terms following his successful loan spell, and after sealing promotion he was asked about his future, hinting he wanted to remain at Portman Road.

“I hope to stay at Ipswich next season, we’ll see what my agent and the manager says”, he told Sky Sports.

“It’s the best loan I could have ever imagined!”

It does make sense for the youngster to remain at Ipswich in an environment he knows, and where he is likely to get regular Premier League football, which is the next step to be taken in his career.

Hutchinson has made two appearances for Chelsea and will no doubt hope to add to that over the coming years, he certainly has the talent to do so it just remains to be seen if the opportunity will be there at Chelsea.
