Report: Growing sense Pochettino has now turned Chelsea tide amidst sacking pressure

There is now reportedly a growing sense that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has turned the tide at the club amidst recent pressure that he could be sacked this summer.

That talk has not disappeared yet though of course, and there will be a meeting taking place at the end of the season between Pochettino and the owners at the club to decide his future. He has a year left on his current contract, but discussions will conclude whether he will be completing his final year at the club, and whether that contract might even be extended – a decision that would unlikely be made until this time next summer, IF Pochettino does stay.

Sources: Gareth Southgate to Chelsea!?

It looks like the last three games have turned the tide for the Argentine boss, or at least for now. The comeback against Nottingham Forest has apparently made a positive difference to the thinking of the Chelsea board.

That is according to The Daily Mail, there is a growing sense at Chelsea that Pochettino deserves to stay in charge. They have pointed at tactical tweaks in recent games such as what led the very late comeback against Nottingham Forest on Saturday night to win the game 3-2.

They also say that he has the backing of the majority of Chelsea’s current players, most of whom do not want to see him sacked at the end of the season.

It continues to explain that Pochettino will draw on the data that shows Chelsea have been performing as a top four club since the turn of the year. He apparently wants to stay at the club.

A lot has been said and reported on this over time, and Pochettino has been quite feisty in recent interviews when asked about his future. The end of season meeting will soon reveal all on what Chelsea will do.
