Telegraph: Maresca already discussing transfer targets and names positions he wants

Pending new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is reportedly already speaking to Chelsea’s sporting directors about transfers and the positions he would want to sign in.

Maresca is expected to take the reigns as new Chelsea manager very soon, with a confirmation expected at any moment now in the coming hours or days.

The Telegraph had a report out around 7pm last night UK time and at that point they said Chelsea are poised to complete the appointment of Enzo Maresca in the next 24 hours after thrashing out a compensation deal worth £10 million with Leicester City. So with that in mind, we should see a confirmation very soon now.

A lot has been said about Chelsea just wanting a head coach now and not one who will be too demanding in the transfer market. But even still, it looks like Maresca has been putting his transfer wishes forward to the sporting directors for this summer.

Well, according to the same report from above, Blues co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart have both flown out to the Costa del Sol to wrap up an appointment, with Maresca currently being in Marbella on holiday.

Maresca is already discussing potential transfer targets and will prioritise a new goalkeeper, left-back and forward when the summer window opens.

We have heard about many more targets and positions than that, and it seems this might just be what Maresca is asking for.

It all seems a bit odd to me though, and I am intrigued to see how this works and who Chelsea might sign this summer. To be honest though, those three positions being wanted by Chelsea this summer have been reported before Maresca was even linked with the club. We’ll see what happens in the next few months.
