We all know that Trevoh Chalobah is Chelsea’s best defender – that much has been clear since his return to the team at the turn of the year.
He’s strong, quick, reads the game well and is proper Cobham trained in terms of his versatility and game intelligence.
One thing that people don’t often talk about is his technique, perhaps because it’s a little hard to show it off at centre back.
But playing on the right of the lopsided back 3 at the weekend, the chance opened up for him to play a ball forward, and boy did he take it. Channelling his inner Cesc Fabregas, the defender swing a crisp long pass between the lines, splitting the West Ham centre back from his full back and playing in Noni Madueke perfectly.
The winger squared it for Nicolas Jackson to tap in. Honestly, what more do you want to see from the lad?
