Mauricio Pochettino has just taken his press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Brighton, but the theme was much more about his future than the match.
The coach, who clearly regrets his comments recently which hinted he might be sacked (or even walk away) because they opened the door to even more questions about his plans, clearly wants to shut down that chat by talking more openly about his future.
“We are planning for next season,” he said of himself and his sporting directors, although he also insisted his first priority was completing this season’s matches. Although his attempts to reassure those present he would be there come next season was slightly undermined by his reminder that it’s not his decision:
“We are thinking in the future. The plan is there, to start the pre-season, the data and everything. [But] It is not in my hands to be here or to not be here.”
