“Yes” – Pochettino takes questions on Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia’s pre-season hope

It’s been a long time since we have seen Wesley Fofana turn out in a Chelsea shirt, and now manager Mauricio Pochettino has been discussing his chances of making pre-season with the club.

There are just two games left this season now for Chelsea, with the final game coming on Sunday. So all the talk will then turn to the summer transfer window to begin with, and then of course, the next pre-season. It will all happen so fast, but will Fofana make it for pre-season?

Well, Pochettino has answered that question, and he has also been discussing the chances of seeing a fully fit Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, and Reece James for the start of next season as well in the latest embargoed quotes from yesterday’s pre-match press conference for the Brighton game tonight.

In words picked up by The Evening Standard, Pochettino said: “In the case of Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James. We need to pay attention in the way we need to provide them with a possibility to be fit. Now it is not only a challenge to have them fit now but in the way we manage for a whole season so there are no setbacks again.

“Of course, in football you always need to take some risks but they have the quality to take some risks.”

When asked if Fofana could be back for pre-season, he added:” We hope so yes. He is doing well, very positive, we were talking yesterday and hope he can be available to be part of the group.”

Huge boost

Chelsea's Romeo Lavia opens up on 'frustration' of season-ending injury setback - having seen just 32 minutes of action in 2023-24 | Goal.com

If these four players can make pre-season and then stay fit, it will absolutely MASSIVE for Chelsea going into the new season. These are four key players and can make ALL the difference and help them get a good start to the season, something they failed to do this season.
