“Burnley 2.0” – Leicester City fan opens up on Enzo Maresca joining Chelsea

One Leicester City fan has been speaking on their former manager Enzo Maresca leaving the club and joining Chelsea as new head coach.

The move has not been confirmed as of yet, but it is expected to be announced by Chelsea today per the latest reports.

Sources: Chelsea still eyeing centre backs, winger noise intensifies, Osimhen off the menu – who now?

Maresca will join Chelsea after a season at Leicester and gaining them promotion back to the Premier League, which of course is a hard task alone.

The Italian is an inexperienced manager having only managed one full season as head coach in senior football so far. Chelsea are undoubtably taking a big risk with Maresca and only time will tell whether it pays off or not.

Leicester fans though, are apparently not too upset that Maresca is leaving them this summer.

Burnley 2.0

This is the view from just one Leicester fan and obviously opinions will differ, but this fan believes there were fears that Leicester would just be another Burnley if Maresca stayed at the helm.

Leicester fan Alex Bradley gave his thoughts to Vavel on the imminent departure of Maresca.

“I would say he’s left the club in a much better place than when he found it.

“He came in when the club was in disarray and lots of players wanted out. He’s reinvigorated the likes of (Jannik) Vestergaard and got the best out of (Wilfried) Ndidi and (Harry) Winks.

“He played some great football with Ricardo mainly playing the inverted full-back role. The fans were also firmly back on side after twelve months of misery, and Enzo was largely behind that.

“Possession-based football was great to watch, but also a little frustrating at times, as plan B was never an option. Many of the fans are not too concerned about him leaving with fears we may have been a Burnley 2.0.”
