Djordje Petrovic believes Chelsea transfer target Benjamin Sesko has what it takes to play in the Premier League should he move to England this summer.
The Blues are looking to sign a striker in the upcoming window, and have been linked with Victor Osimhen, although a deal now seems unlikely for the Nigerian, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, and RB Leipzig’s Sesko.
Chelsea will need to make sure they sign the best option for incoming boss Enzo Maresca, who has agreed a five year deal to become the club’s next manager.
Petrovic backs Sesko to succeed in the Premier League
Sesko has been linked with a move to a number of England’s biggest clubs with Manchester United and Arsenal also interested in the 21-year-old.
The Slovenia international scored 14 Bundesliga goals last season, and is believed to have a release clause of around £55m, whist his agent Elvis Basanovic has hinted the Premier League will most likely be his client’s next destination.
Chelsea are in the market for a striker to help take the goalscoring burden off Nicolas Jackson, and Sesko could be that man.
Whilst Sesko perhaps isn’t what most Chelsea fans feel the club need this summer, an experienced striker who can come in and make an instant impact, he is certainly an intriguing prospect.
Current star Petrovic could come up against the Slovenian at Euro 2024 when Serbia play Slovenia in the group stage, and has backed Sesko for a move to the Premier League.
“I know [about the rumours] and have been following him,” Petrovic told Nogomania.
“He’s having a good half season, he’s in great scoring form.
“I read that he’s scored in his last seven matches in a row, he seems to have gained strong momentum for the Euros.
“He’s a forward who has everything a modern player needs, he’s tall, strong, fast and intelligent.
“I’ve watched some of his matches, of course he can play in the Premier League. Absolutely!
“He has great potential and he’s been successfully proving it in recent months.”
