(Video) -Former Blue slams club for giving Enzo Maresca a five year deal

Chelsea have agreed a deal with Leicester City to appoint Enzo Maresca as the club’s next manager following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino last week.

The Blues have moved swiftly to ensure the 44-year-old is in place well before the club head to America for their pre-season tour in late July.

Maresca is set to sign a five year deal at Stamford Bridge, and will become the fifth manager in two years under the new ownership.

The Italian guided Leicester City to the Championship title last season, and is a former assistant of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Whilst Maresca’s appointment certainly comes as a surprise, he is spoken of highly within football, but there’s no denying it’s a huge gamble on Chelsea’s behalf, which will require a lot of patience.

The Italian only has one year of senior coaching experience under his belt, and ex-Blue Tony Cascarino has hit out at the club for giving Maresca a five year deal.

Cascarino described it as “laughable” and believes if Chelsea are struggling before Christmas Maresca will be gone.
