La Liga outfit have shown most interest in £50m rated Chelsea ace this summer

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Spanish side Atletico Madrid have shown the most interest in Conor Gallagher so far this summer.

Gallagher is currently with the England squad preparing for Saturday’s Euro 2024 quarter final against Switzerland, and no decision is likely on his future until after the tournament.

The 24-year-old had a brilliant season for Chelsea, captaining the side in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell, but there are huge question marks surrounding his future given he’s only got a year left of his contract.

Along with Cole Palmer, Gallagher was one of Chelsea’s standout performers last season as they secured a top six finish and a return to European football.

The England international scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 50 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season, but there’s a chance he could have played his last game for his boyhood club.

Gallagher has made it clear he wants to remain at Chelsea, and the possibility of him being offered a new deal hasn’t been ruled out, but he’s attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and Atletico.

The Blues are believed to value Gallagher at around £50m and it remains to be seen if any potential suitors are prepared to meet that valuation.

Romano has reported that Atletico are the club that have shown the most interest in the midfielder, but a deal is difficult for them due to the cost.

He told his Playback stream:

“Conor Gallagher is receiving most interest from Atletico Madrid, however the deal is very expensive for them.”

It’s no secret that Chelsea have wanted to sell Gallagher for a while, but the club will also be wary of potentially losing him for free next summer if he decides to stay and run his contract down.

Competition for places in midfield is fierce, and even more so now given the addition of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester.

Supporters will be hoping Gallagher, who is a firm fan favourite stays and they get to see him in a Blue shirt next season, but only time will tell.
