Chelsea haven’t ruled out move for £113m rated striker if asking price drops

Chelsea haven’t completely ruled out a move for Victor Osimhen if Napoli drop their asking price according to reports.

It’s well documented that Chelsea are in the market for a striker, and they have already signed 18-year-old Marc Guiu from Barcelona, with reports suggesting the teenager will be part of the first team squad.

However, the Blues are reportedly still looking to bring in another forward to compete with Nicolas Jackson, who scored 14 Premier League goals last season.

Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of names from across Europe as they look to add more firepower to the squad in order to get back into the Champions League next season.

Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran was thought to be the main target, but interest in the Colombian has cooled in recent weeks, whilst the Blues reportedly had three bids rejected by Atletico Madrid for Samu Omorodion.

The club have reportedly been in talks with Lille’s Jonathan David, who could be available for less than £30m, but as of yet nothing has materialised.

However, The Telegraph report that Chelsea haven’t completely ruled out a move for Nigeria international Osimhen if Napoli drop their asking price, but did also add that Saudi Arabia is currently seen as a more likely destination than Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have held long term interest in the 25-year-old, who is thought to have a release clause of around £113m, but it was reported earlier this summer that they weren’t pursuing a deal for the Nigerian due to cost and concerns over his style of play.

As of yet there haven’t been any serious offers for Osimhen, and it remains to be seen how long Napoli will leave the situation before they consider dropping their asking price.

If Chelsea were to move for Osimhen, it would seemingly pave the way for Romelu Lukaku to reunite with Antonio Conte in Naples, with Napoli able to use some of the Osimhen money to pay the Belgian’s £38m exit clause.
