New Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was asked over night who his club captain is going to be going into the new season ahead.
The new Chelsea campaign starts in the early hours of tomorrow morning with the first pre-season friendly against Wrexham in the USA.
Sources: Nico Williams to Chelsea still on! 👀
Maresca spoke to the media in the early hours of this morning ahead of the game, followed by the club captain from last season, Reece James.
But is James going to stay as captain?
It seems so…. We think!
“For sure, James will be one of the captains,” Maresca replied when asked who will be his club captain next season. “He has already been in the past. I want him again to be one of the leaders of this team. I like players who take responsibility.”
But James says he hasn’t been told yet.
“You probably know better than me,” James replied when asked if he was captain this season. “Directly I haven’t been told if I will be captain. I am not the one who makes the decision.”

This is Micheal from Uganda number one Chelsea fan,, For sure at my side I can agree with our new manager Enzo Maresca to give Reece James the responsibility of his fellow players and to Captain the club.
But Sanchez shouldn’t be based on so much he is sloppy in passing, poor timing as witnessed from the goals we conceded. Actually if it wasn’t Petrovic being brought in we wouldn’t have completed in number 6 last season and proved to be better than Sanchez.
James continue as our captain
