Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs were on the CaughtOffside Debrief last night, where they talked about one of the big transfer sagas of the summer. Nico Williams is in demand from all over, and his every game with Spain at the Euros amps up interest further.
“He’s on the list of Chelsea,” said Romano, adding that they’d watched him since last summer. But he was able to pretty comfortably rule out any further moves anytime soon.
He said that “the only way Chelsea sign Williams” is if the winger drops his demands. And that’s not going to happen when he’s just had the tournament of his life and has interest from plenty of teams who won’t tell him to lower his demands.
Romano then went on to give a very concise summary of why Chelsea won’t be signing him.
